Monkton pupil Isabel W has retained her World Freestyle Football title for a second year. Isabel was the youngest-ever winner of the Female Pro category in 2023, and has now won the most prestigious open competition in Freestyle Football again in 2024.

Making her way to the quarter-finals, the 17-year-old took part in one-on-one battles in the main competition of the event. In a clash of individual quality and mental strength, two athletes compete by showcasing their best skills to the team of judges.

Isabel’s first rival was her Polish opponent, Dominika Turkowska. After winning in style, Isabel progressed to a tough semi-final against Mathilde Fortier and pulled off an incredible trick to secure the win and advance to the finals.

In the final, she faced tough competition from 24-year-old French star Yoanna Dallier. In a highly competitive final, demonstrating incredible skills, Izzy introduced some new tricks to showcase the variety in her routine to the judges.

After the judges considered the execution, creativity, originality, and difficulty of the performances, as well as their overall completeness, Isabel was declared the back-to-back reigning World Champion.

Isabel has been able to practise at Monkton during co-curricular activities. “Monkton has been great in supporting me,” she said. “I get to practise during games which has been incredibly helpful.

“Mrs Glasgow is really supportive of me. Whether this is announcing my success in a competition to the house or helping me find time to practise my skills.”
