Setting Up a Wildlife Hospital at Secret World
A one day online course with Pauline Kidner and Liz Mullineaux making use of their experience, and the experience of the charity, to help you decide what to do, and just as importantly what not to do. Practical course day for those who have completed (or booked) all four courses online. Sessions include: Course 1 practical – a tour of SWWR site, new treatment centre and outside rehabilitation enclosures, Course 2 practical – handling equipment, PPE, diets and housing, Course 3 practical – examination, injection techniques, wing bandaging (note this session involves the use of dead wild animals), and Course 4 practical – soft release set ups and post release monitoring techniques.

Designed for veterinary surgeons (MRCVS), registered veterinary nurses (RVN), veterinary students and student veterinary nurses covering wildlife casualties from admission to release. It will includes legal and ethical considerations and ‘triage’, a range of first aid techniques including fluid therapy, analgesia, bandaging and wound care, most of the common problems seen in common British wildlife species, and hands on experience of examining animals and practicing first aid and other techniques.

Rescue, Care and Rehabilitation of Badgers at Secret World
Species-specific course focusing on badgers for those who have completed Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release Courses and/or have some good foundation knowledge of the rehabilitation of badgers. The course will include discussion of the ecology and biology of badgers relevant to their assessment and triage for treatment, rehabilitation and release, care of badgers whilst in captivity, common reasons for admissions of badgers to vets and wildlife centres, and the care of neonatal and juvenile badgers.
