Last week saw the Royal High School’s U16 Netball squad storm to victory at the County tournament at Clifton College, beating all Bath and Bristol schools.

As winners of the previous District round, the Royal High School squad were competing for two coveted places to represent Avon at the Regional Netball tournament in January.

With a slow start against Bristol Grammar School, the girls found their flow and began to dominate, securing a very satisfying 9-3 win. A succession of dominant victories followed over King Edwards Bath 14-3, St Gregory’s 11-4, Clifton High School 12-2 and finally Clifton College 16-8. 

The Royal High School claimed an emphatic victory at the tournament coming away as U16 County Champions for the second year running. Coached by Team Bath Chairperson and Head of Netball, Mrs Natalie Roddy, and assisted by Team Bath Super League player, Rachel Shaw, The Royal High School has a strong tradition in Netball and are dominant amongst the Bath schools.

Mrs Roddy, said, “We are incredibly proud of the girls, they have worked hard and really gelled together as a team. They are a talented group of girls but it is the camaraderie and team spirit that sets them apart.”
