News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Sixty tonnes of play sand, a friendly crocodile and a new pirate boat are set to make summer fun for children visiting a popular Bath park.

Bath & North East Somerset Council has invested in new play equipment at Sandpits Play Area in Monksdale Road as the original kit had won out.

The new play equipment includes buckets and scales, and was chosen following a public consultation. Councillor Paul Crossley, cabinet member for Community Services, officially opened the new play area yesterday (Wednesday 19 June).

Paul said, “This park is really popular with local people and it’s great that this new equipment has been installed ahead of the school summer holidays. The Sandpits Play Area provides a safe and friendly space for children and their parents to meet and play, and I’m sure it will be well used. The council’s investment in this new equipment is part of our commitment to encouraging active and healthy lifestyles.”
