Aladdin is of course the thrilling story of a boy, a lamp and a genie, and one of the most popular pantomimes of all. Audiences are promised a traditional show packed with comedy, slapstick, singing, dancing, beautiful costumes and plenty of participation.

British Soap Award winner Bill Ward stars as the wicked magician, Abanazar. No stranger to playing Mr Nasty, he is well-known as the builder from hell, Charlie Stubbs, in Coronation Street from 2003-2007 and as James Barton in Emmerdale. He played Abanazar in a recordbreaking panto in 2006.

The title role of Aladdin will be played by Mark Rhodes, winner of the 2015 BAFTA Children’s Presenter Award as half of Sam & Mark, whose programmes include CBBC’s Big Friday Wind-Up and family gameshow, Copycats. Mark has also appeared on Dancing on Ice, Celebrity Wipeout and was a runner-up in Pop Idol.

Much-loved comedian Jon Monie will be returning by huge popular demand to play Wishee Washee; Nick Wilton, best known as Mr Lister in EastEnders, returns after last year’s acclaimed debut as Dame in Bath, to play Widow Twankey and Gemma Naylor from Go!Go!Go! on nickjr plays Princess Jasmine.
