It’s an exciting first week back to school for the King Edward’s Junior School Dance Club, as they prepare to take part in the South West heat of The Great Big Dance Off at St George’s Theatre, Bristol, on 27 April.
The Great Big Dance Off is the UK’s only dance competition for schools and is open to dance groups across England & Wales. The King Edward’s Junior School team were selected to take part after sending judges a video of their performance. Nineteen children from Year 3-5 are taking part, and have been practising their routine in the after-school Dance Club.
It’s been a busy month for the ensemble, who took part in the week-long B&NES organised Dance Umbrella Festival at The Forum just before Easter. Thousands of children from the local area took part in the festival, with all profits from the event going towards funding specialist dance provision in primary, secondary and special schools in the local area.
