The Paragon Girls’ Year 5 & 6 recently enjoyed a cricket workshop with England’s vice captain, Anya Shrubsole. As well as playing for England, Bath born and bred Anya has represented Somerset at cricket since the age of 12.
Anya joined the schools girls’ Year 5 & 6 cricket to deliver a fun, skills-based cricket workshop. The girls started off by practising their throwing and catching, before progressed onto bowling skills. This included the children being put into teams to see who could bowl the fastest and most accurate deliveries, with the winning team hitting the stumps more than a dozen times.
Anya rounded off the workshop with a closely tied kwik cricket match between the teams.
Anya is off to the Women’s World Cup in July and everyone at The Paragon wishes her and the rest of the squad the best of luck for a successful tournament.
Following the visit, Mrs Alsop, Acting Head of Girls’ Games, said, “A huge thank you to Anya for giving up her time to come and coach our girls. I am sure she has inspired some of them to take their cricket further.”
