Pupils from Beechen Cliff School in Bath will be taking to the stage for their musical theatre debut in the Broadway classic Guys and Dolls at the Kingswood Theatre, Bath, from the 11-13th April.
To achieve this new venture, Beechen Cliff have invited Bath Theatre School to produce the production with their lower school students, who will be joined by girls from across Bath and who attend BTS. This will be the first time the students have been given such a performing opportunity, with professional lighting, scenery and costumes. In addition, the Beechen Cliff student technical team, teaching staff and parent volunteers will be providing the off-stage support to deliver Beechen Cliff’s first large scale musical production.
Former Beechen Cliff pupil and Bath Theatre School’s Principal, Tom Bright, explained, “We are thrilled to be working with Beechen Cliff School to share our expertise to bring musical theatre and the opportunity to perform into school life. The scale of the production will be unlike anything available at any other school in the area and we commend the school for pursuing this ambitious project.
“This exciting new opportunity brings with it a wealth of creative opportunities for students on and off the stage, whilst supporting a wide variety of key life skills that will support the personal development and confidence both at school and as members of the local community.”
Guys and Dolls is packed full of gangsters, charm, comedy and romance, and features the wonderful songs Fugue for Tinhorns, Luck Be a Lady, Guys & Dolls and Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.
