News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Year 13 pupils at King Edward’s are celebrating superb A Level results, with 83% of all entries at A*- B and 61% at A* or A, including a record breaking 29% A* grades – more than three and a half times the national average!

More than 40% of the cohort gained only A* or A grades, with 17 pupils achieving straight A*s, including 7 with four or even five top grades.

Among the successes are a 100% A*/A return for the Classics department (Latin, Greek and classical civilisation) and 96% of all art and photography entries at A* – B. In addition, over 50% of the 87 entries for maths and further maths (more than half the year group!) achieved an A*, with almost three quarters at A* or A. With a 93% A* – B success rate in French, German and Spanish and growing numbers in all three languages, the MFL department is also very well placed ahead of its move to a new, state of the art Languages Centre this Autumn.

Headmaster, Martin Boden, congratulated the pupils, commenting, “These wonderful results are fully deserved and due reward for many, many hours of hard work. It is a pleasure to see so many thrilled pupils – not to mention the very happy parents and teachers – from a very talented cohort of leavers who have enriched the life of the School in so many ways during their time at KES.

“Most importantly, they have fantastic personal attributes to match their evident academic credentials and will, without doubt, make great contributions to society and to the communities to which they now move on. I am delighted that so many pupils in the year group are progressing to their universities of choice, including many of the top institutions in the country, and I wish them all the very best in the next stage of their journey.”
