Year 11 art student, Ella B, from St Gregory’s in Bath, has won her age category in this year’s Royal Commonwealth Society’s Art of Communication exhibition at 44AD artspace Bath, with her oil painting on canvas. The competition was open to all local artists and students, with selected artworks chosen for display throughout the exhibition earlier this month.

The competition aimed to capture communication in the commonwealth, with Ella’s piece chosen as for its representation of the diversity present in our commonwealth countries, as well as how people celebrate being a citizen of one country while having heritage in other nations also. Ella painted the piece to celebrate diversity in our midst, and more specifically amongst her friendship group, with her friend and fellow St Gregory’s student as models!

Ella was invited to attend the awards ceremony on Sunday 8 March, when she was presented with a wonderful selection of artists’ materials and a trophy by Michael Eavis. The Bath Mayor, Councillor Gerry Curran, was also in attendance and congratulated Ella on her fantastic achievements.
