News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

OK, yes, I admit it, we’re no strangers to the delights of the Bath Pizza Co. During those pre-lockdown days – remember those… – we were regular visitors to the Green Park venue for a family meal out and always enjoyed the meals and atmosphere.

With the present restrictions meaning that eating in is currently not an option, we were determined not to miss out so plumped for the takeaway alternative, which is available seven days a week, 12-9pm.

Why are we such fans of Bath Pizza Co? Well, it’s really great that where possible they work with local suppliers, including Tunley Farm Butchers, North End Farm for vegetables and Homewood Farm Cheeses. Add to that the excellent, family-friendly atmosphere when you do get to eat in. However, most of all it’s because they produce top-notch pizzas.

Our most recent choices took in that good old basic of a Margherita, a very slightly more exotic Margherita and ham, a Spincai (tomato, ricotta, spinach, artichoke, mozzarella, roasted garlic and parmesan), a Hawaiian (mozzarella, tomato, prosciutto ham, pineapple and parmesan) and from the specials’ menu, a Felipe VI (tomato, fior di latte, chorizo, prosciutto crudo, padron peppers and Kalamata olives). It’s worth pointing out that they’re all available with gluten free dough.

With a pick-up time of 6pm, the pizzas were ready bang on the dot and home in time for a family film night courtesy of Netflix.

There’s no need to hold back here – these pizzas are just the best around! My Felipe VI should be immediately moved onto the regulars’ board – it was delicious, perfectly prepared, loads of flavoursome toppings and pretty unbeatable. And it appeared to be a very similar level of satisfaction from the rest of my family too, with the only moan being that the bottom of the base was perhaps a little too singed as a result of it being cooked on in the blazing pizza oven.

With the end of the latest lockdown hopefully in sight, we’ll be only too keen to pay another visit to the Bath Pizza Co’s Green Park home. In the meantime, the takeaways will do us nicely, thank you very much.
