For mum of two Alice Keverne (pictured above), the inspiration to start her own company came from her daughter, Kaya, who, when she was six years old, asked if she could have a kit for Christmas to help nature.
“After trawling the internet and shops I found that nothing quite ticked the box, especially when I was determined to avoid plastic single use toys,” recalls Alice. “I realised that if I wanted to make her Christmas, it was time to get creative!”
After two years of sustainably sourcing, designing and testing, the result is a new company called Nature Nurture Kids and its own range of nature kits aimed at children aged from 3 to 12 years.
“I never imagined how much fun I would have sourcing, designing and creating her dream eco-friendly kit, and when I saw her face on Christmas day I realised this was something to be shared,” said Alice. “Our unique eco-friendly kits have been designed to give children the opportunity to immerse themselves outdoors within nature and provide them with the knowledge, skills and equipment to take action and actively help nature. Our kits are eco-friendly, interactive and educational.
“We have always taught our children to care and respect nature, and to also have a clear understanding of both the positive and negative effects humans can have on our planet. By providing this knowledge from an early age, we hope to prepare and equip our children with the confidence, skills and empowerment to take responsibility and to actively make positive changes themselves.”
The kits now include
- The Ultimate Nature Nurture Kit (£78) which is packed full of carefully selected and thoughtfully designed eco-friendly items, to create fun, expand knowledge and empower children to find their own path in helping and caring for nature and the Earth.
- The Litter Picker Kit (£38) which includes all the items and safety equipment your little ones need to get started on cleaning up the planet.
- The DIY Seed Bomb Kit (£9), a beautifully presented DIY Seed Bomb Kit includes all the ingredients to produce approximately 20 organic wildflower packed seed bombs.
- The DIY Veggie Bomb Kit (£9), to give children the opportunity to learn how different vegetables grow, enjoy the benefits of eating them and get messy during the process!
- Bee Rescue Kit (£9), to help a tired bee return to its hive by giving it the boost of energy it needs!
and more much too!
“I would like children to understand that they can have an impact and be empowered, and to see that they can make a difference. Our aim is to empower children to take responsibility and action to make their world a better place… whilst of course having lots of fun along the way…”
