News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Families are welcome for lunches and dinners at The Royal Oak Hawkeridge near Westbury, which has recently been taken over by Family pubs Ltd who also own the Rising Sun in Lacock.

Like the Rising Sun, the Royal Oak has a gorgeous garden this time with stunning views of the Westbury White Horse, as well as covered and heated areas for al-fresco dining and drinking across the year.

At the helm will be talented Head Chef Alex Willson who has 20 years’ experience working across Bath and Wiltshire, cutting his teeth originally at the famous Hole in the Wall restaurant in Bath. His skills include French and Italian cuisine to 2AA Rosette Award standard, always using quality seasonal ingredients locally sourced with traditional and modern styles.

“I’m excited to be leading the team at the Royal Oak, especially as many of our suppliers are on our doorstep and like our sister pub the Rising Sun all the ingredients where possible will be sourced within a five-mile radius of the pub,” said Alex.

Among the family friendly elements at The Royal Oak is a kids menu featuring a number of traditional favourites including mini fish and chips, cheeseburger, fries and slaw, and Wiltshire pork sausages, mash and greens, as well as a purpose built children’s play area which is due to be ready for the summer.

The pub is open Wednesday to Sunday at the moment and you can enjoy 10% off your bill for food and drink from Wednesday to Friday evening. You can also pop in on a Friday lunchtime and you and a friend can enjoy tasty beer battered fish and chips for just £20.

Sunday lunch is a great way to get together with the family and the pub has already gained quite a reputation for its Sunday roast sharing boards. Tables get snapped up fast so make sure you plan ahead.

You can book a table at www.theroyaloakhawkeridge.co.uk or if you have a special event in mind, call 01373 476902 or email the team on email hidden; JavaScript is required to have a chat about it.
