News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Two equestrian teams from Hardenhuish School in Chippenham competed in a NSEA Showjumping Regional qualifier at the West Wilts Equestrian Centre. The 70cm team consisted of Isabelle Armstrong, Mia Fowler, and Brooke Robinson were the first to compete, handling the pressure of the situation wonderfully well to finish in fifth place.

Later in the event, the 80cm team comprising of Louisa Niker, Abigail Wood, Amelia Niker and Issy Armstrong managed to pull a win for Wiltshire, qualifying for the National County Championships. Louisa came first in the team and as an individual, and also qualified!

“Smartie was a superstar and always helps me out,” said Louisa. “He takes out strides and made my time three seconds faster.”

Next up was the 90cm team, which was also the first to compete out of the class, finishing on a score of eight after a few unlucky poles. All in all, it was another very successful day for Team Hardenhuish, who now move on to the Hickstead Champs in May.

”Once again these girls have represented the school with aplomb and are a massive credit to Hardenhuish,” said Julie Bush, Team Manager. “They demonstrate all the qualities of a good competitor. They combine skilful riding, , consideration of others , determination and sportsmanship. Mrs Percy, Headteacher and I are so proud of their achievements.”
