From river dipping to a scavenger hunt, there are still plenty of things happening for families to enjoy in the last few days of the council’s Climate & Biodiversity Festival.
The varied programme of events has been put together in collaboration with the community and aims to give like-minded groups a chance to connect with each other and a platform for them to engage with residents.
The Climate Festival Community Day on Saturday 1 October (10am to 4pm) will see Kingston Parade, Abbey Square filled with stallholders including Transition Bath, Bath and West Community Energy, The B&NES Climate Hub group, Eco Together and Families Acting on Climate Emergency, all keen to engage with members of the public.
The council’s Waste and Recycling and Climate & Environmental Sustainability teams will also be attending.
Avon Schools Eco Network will be hosting Youth Voice Unplugged, an evening of music, poetry and socialising later that evening at Chapter 22 Roots and Records Cafe (7pm – 10pm). The group will be premiering their new short film Changing the Narrative.
Councillor Sarah Warren, cabinet member for Climate and Sustainable Travel, said, “When you look at the range of events included in this year’s festival programme, it clearly reflects how much communities and organisations across Bath and North East Somerset care about the impacts and effects of climate change and biodiversity loss on the people and places that they work or live. Each of the 40+ events in the festival, in one way or another, is about taking positive action for communities.”
