FUNdays Club, the Wiltshire-based business which provides professionally enriched childcare experiences, is proud to have achieved Social Enterprise Mark accreditation.

The Social Enterprise Mark is awarded to organisations who are committed to positive social aspect, they undergo rigorous and independent assessment to achieve the accreditation.

FUNdays Club was created to redefine the concept of childcare. Its after-school and holiday programmes are designed to enrich and extend school learning, develop vital skills and get children thinking. The club provides support for parents, delivering experiences children might not get at home in a safe and nurturing environment. Its professional team supports children’s development through active and engaging sessions.

Its clubs include breakfast, after school and holiday clubs for primary school age children, at Christ Church Primary and Fitzmaurice Primary in Bradford on Avon. FUNdays also provides support at The Grove Primary in Trowbridge and at Bratton Primary School, as well as to professional individuals.

Mark West, managing director and co-founder of FUNdays Club, said, “We are proud to be accredited as a genuine social enterprise – the Social Enterprise Mark is an independent guarantee that we put people before profit. We have been externally assessed against sector-agreed criteria and have proved our commitment to using profits and income to create benefits for society through our Social Impact Fund.”

FUNdays Club was founded in 2012 and currently employs a team of 21, operating in and supporting schools across Wiltshire. FUNdays Club joins other organisations, including Bath Spa University, Nottingham and Westminster universities and The Big Issue group, who are part of a diverse network of social enterprises.

Lucy Findlay MBE, managing director of Social Enterprise Mark, said, “We are delighted to award the Social Enterprise Mark to FUNdays Club, which provides external verification of their credentials as a social enterprise, committed to maximising positive impacts for local communities. It is one of the first childcare providers in the UK to achieve this accolade, demonstrating a commitment to creating positive outcomes for local families.

“Social enterprises can be found across the country and work to many different priorities, so it’s great to see an innovative childcare provider like FUNdays Club understanding the importance of showing their true colours and demonstrating the truth about their business.”

Social enterprises are trading businesses that reinvest income and profits to address social and environmental issues, above that of shareholder profit motivations. Through social enterprise, businesses holding the accreditation can operate with a positive impact on the planet and people.
