Family audiences can look forward to a sparkling production of Five Children and It, which continues its welcome return at Bath’s Egg Theatre, appearing now until Sunday 15th January. Based on the children’s classic novel by E. Nesbit, this show, presented by award-winning theatre makers, Bucket Club, is back by popular demand.
Sent away to live in the countryside with their reclusive Uncle, five children discover a secret that’s been hidden away for centuries: a magical, mischievous and extremely grumpy Sand Fairy from the dawn of time called It, with the power to grant spectacular wishes. There’s just one catch. As the children set off on a series of fantastic adventures, they soon learn that wishes can get you into a whole heap of trouble. Perhaps a wish granted isn’t always the dream come true you might expect!
The stage production of Five Children and It is written by Marietta Kirkbride and directed by Nel Crouch. Featuring original songs and music written by David Ridley, the show is recommended for those aged 6 years and over.
Also returning by popular demand this year is Bath’s favourite Snow Mouse, performing at The Egg for an incredible 8th year, appearing from Saturday 7th January to Sunday 5th February. Described by The Stage as ‘delightful’ and by The Bath & Wiltshire Parent as ‘the perfect production for younger children’, Snow Mouse is an enchanting seasonal tale for the very young.
Winter has arrived and the woods are covered in white. A child hurries to put on their winter clothes so they can run outside and play in a sparkly new world. Just when they are starting to feel a bit lonely, they find a sleeping mouse buried under the soft white flakes. Sliding, tumbling and laughing, they explore the winter wonderland together and keep each other safe and warm from the winter freeze.
Audiences can join two new friends on their adventures in a magical forest full of play, puppetry and music, perfect for those aged 6 months to 4 years. Snow Mouse is performed by Egg favourite, Emile Clarke (A Christmas Getaway, The Scarlet Pimpernel) and presented by The Egg together with Travelling Light Theatre Company.
