Parents can introduce their children to Indian storytelling when Apple ‘N’ Spice, an original, interactive and multi-cultural dance performance from Sanskruti Dance, visits Bath this month.
This ‘superb’ (BritishTheatre.com) production appears at The Egg for a run of two performances on Saturday 23 September and is recommended for children aged three years and over.
In this intriguing new fairy-tale, audiences are taken on a journey which follows the story of two step-parents, one from the East and one from the West, whose stories intertwine. The performance culminates in an invitation for the audience to join the cast on stage, for an Indian dance party to remember.
Born of a question asked of Artistic Director, Krishna Zivraj-Nair, by her daughter; the performance imaginatively brings together the story of Snow White, with that of Ramanyana, presenting a brand-new story. Apple ‘N’ Spice is told through a combination of Bharatanatyam, contemporary dance, Indian storytelling and shadow puppetry.
Professional dance company, Sanskruti Dance, was created in 2017 following performances at Cambridge Big Weekend Festival and Mill Road Midsummer Festival. The collective formed with the aim to inspire and educate families and young people in South-Asian artforms.
