The annual Walk of Life sponsored walk, organised by RUHX, official charity of the Royal United Hospitals Bath, is the chance for people across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire to step out and show their support for patients, families, and hospital staff.
Starting in Bishops Cannings for the marathon 26.2 mile distance, and joined in Bradford-on-Avon for the 10 mile distance, walkers will follow the scenic Kennet & Avon canal towpath all the way to Bath, finishing at the picturesque Holburne Museum. From stunning countryside to historic aqueducts, there is plenty to spot along the way as you enjoy your day and complete your challenge.
Sign up as a team with friends, family, or colleagues or as an individual – with hundreds of walkers taking part, you won’t be walking alone.
With a group warm up at each start line, a communal lunchtime BBQ and big celebration at the finish line, the Walk of Life is a day to remember. Walkers will also get an RUHX t-shirt, dedication back sign to show who you are walking for, finishers medal, and plenty of refreshments along the route.
By taking part and fundraising, walkers will be supporting life-changing projects at the RUH, such as transforming hospital wards, staff wellbeing programmes, and funding new state-of-the-art equipment.
Ellie Wilkinson, Events & Community Officer, RUHX, said, “The Walk of Life is a celebration for loved ones and those who cared for them. Whoever you walk for, you’ll be supporting your local hospital to do more for everyone in the local community.
“It’s a tough but rewarding challenge, leaving everyone who takes part with a big sense of pride in having helped the RUH to provide extra extraordinary care.”
This year, RUHX is celebrating 25 years of doing more for the RUH, and walkers will be helping the charity to continue the next 25 years of support. Over £750,000 has been raised at the Walk of Life since 2005 and the charity is hoping to make this its best year yet.
Will you step up to the challenge? Register now for £20 and raise £100 for the RUH (or £8 for children with a reduced fundraising target of £50) on the RUHX website.
