News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Moorlands Schools Federation in Bath has completed its two library projects, with the addition of a ‘tree of kindness’ in both the junior and infant libraries. The projects have been a collaboration between the school and the PTA, members of which have worked hard to fundraise, taken part in the refurbishment and even created the designs for the new furniture.

“These two wonderful new libraries are the perfect places for us to celebrate reading at Moorlands,” explained Louisa Sellars, Executive Headteacher. “We’re proud to have reading and quality texts at the heart of our curriculum, and delighted to have such welcoming spaces for all of the children to develop their love of reading.”

All of the children have the opportunity to spend time in the library spaces each week with their classes and sometimes with their buddy readers in other year groups. A dedicated team of Year 5 and 6 librarians have the responsibility of keeping the libraries organised and helping younger children to get the most out of them by supporting them with choosing, reading and borrowing books.

“Our trees of kindness add a special touch to both spaces and are a great reminder about what a kind and respectful place Moorlands is,” added Louisa.
