News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

There was no sign of the January blues at St Margaret’s Prep this year, as pupils in Years 3 and 4 prepared for and delivered two spectacular performances of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Camelot!

The children delivered the show with confidence, joy and perfect comedic timing. It was packed with all the favourite cheeky panto cliches: plenty of over-the-top characters (cue Emily Parker Cronin’s fabulous portrayal of the dame), and clever parodies and catchy songs, which had the whole school humming along during the dress rehearsal!

The story followed the journey of Arthur and his flamboyant entourage on their quest to save Camelot from dark forces. Each and every child delivered their lines with precision and confidence, delivering a show to brighten up even the darkest days of January!

Every child has the opportunity to perform on stage each year at St Margaret’s Prep, where the performing arts are at the very centre of the school’s ethos.

Head of Performing Arts, Mrs Hilary Gibbin commented, “ We are so proud of the way the cast’s confidence grew as they rehearsed; after only a couple of weeks’ practice, they were milking the audience for applause at the hilarious jokes and songs! We have a dream production team of teaching staff supporting the children to make the show look as spectacular as possible.”
