Family fun ahead at the REME Museum in Wiltshire

Reme 46

Families looking for a great day out packed with hands-on fun will find masses to enjoy at the REME Museum in Lyneham, Wiltshire.

Located close to Chippenham, the museum celebrates the work of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers – the specialists who keep the Army’s equipment moving, from tanks and helicopters to boats and high-tech kit.

It’s a brilliant place to visit all year round, with galleries full of historic vehicles, interactive displays, uniforms and equipment from across REME’s history. Young visitors can climb into vehicles, take part in trails and explore life as a real military engineer, while grown-ups discover the stories and innovation behind army engineering.

Alongside the permanent collection are family-friendly outdoor spaces, Crown’s Café and a programme of special themed events. Here’s a look at what’s coming up through 2026…
