Prior Park College welcomed Henry Blofeld, sports journalist, broadcaster and legend of the box, to the school last week for an evening of Test Match Special memories.
‘Blowers’, as he is known to his fans, fresh from ‘close of play’ of Test Match Special, shared stories and anecdotes of life in the commentary box, cricket tours around the world and touching memories of his final test commentary at Lord’s cricket ground.
He finished the evening signing copies of his new book Over and Out: My Innings of a Lifetime with Test Match Special.
Money raised from the evening contributed towards Prior Park College’s new electronic cricket scoreboard at the Bury Sports’ Centre.
Henry Blofeld said, “Prior Park College provides a wonderful backdrop for boys and girls to play and enjoy the beautiful game of cricket. It was a great pleasure to spend time at the College and help launch the new scoreboard,”
Prior Park’s headmaster, Mr Murphy-O’Connor, added, “We were delighted to welcome Henry to the College. It was incredibly generous of him to give up his time to help us with our Cricket fundraising.”
