The Egg Theatre in Bath is hosting a fundraiser to raise money to ensure that more children from state schools have the chance to enjoy the theatre. Taking place on Thursday 24th February at 6.30pm, the FUNdraiser promises a magical, interactive and suitably theatrical event to celebrate the theatre’s unique initiative, the Wonderfund.
The Wonderfund aims to make 4,000 Egg Theatre tickets – and all the logistics that come with those tickets, such as transport and teacher support – available to state school children this year; ultimately, the goal is to make sure every child has been to the theatre at least once.
The WonderfundRaiser aims to raise awareness of the Wonderfund campaign and attract donor support in a uniquely creative atmosphere far removed from a traditional fundraising event.
Looking ahead to the WonderfundRaiser, Kate Cross, Director of The Egg, said, “All those who join us on Thursday 24 February can expect a warm, sparkling welcome with cocktails provided by Brozen, our new café partners. Suitably refreshed, they will spend time in the Egg Auditorium, a theatre designed for children, by children. Once installed in their comfortable seats, our guests will experience the infinite landscape that is theatre for young audiences as we share snippets and memories of previous productions.
“Together, we will consider all the barriers that prevent teachers from bringing children to the theatre and help to knock them down, brick by brick. Guests may well find themselves wanting to release their own inner child a tiny bit, too! But we’ll look after them – after all, that’s what we do.
“And after all this, we will eat, drink, be merry and mingle with like-minded people. Yes, we will ask our guests to donate to the Wonderfund before they leave our fabulous event. But we’re confident that once guests have experienced The Egg’s very own, unique magic, they too will want to be part of our wonderful Wonderfund journey.”
