Pupils at Nunney First School near Frome ‘gain confidence year on year’ and ‘there are many occasions for pupils to shine personally because the staff treat them as individuals’, according to a recent Ofsted inspection.
The village school was praised for its broad and ambitious curriculum, as well as its focus on celebrating each child’s achievements. Feedback from parents and carers, who participated in the Ofsted survey, further affirmed this with 100% of them saying they would recommend the school.
Caroline Ford, the newly-appointed Headteacher said, “The visit by Ofsted inspectors has highlighted what we see every day at Nunney – it is a ‘small, happy school’ where ‘everyone is welcome’. The report has recognised not only our caring community but also our high academic standards, which allow every pupil to flourish and build the confidence they need for middle school and beyond.”
Ray Jones, Chair of Governors, added, “The inspectors praised everyone in the school for working together to make a positive contribution to the pupil’s education.”
The inspectors also praised the Governing Body for making a ‘positive difference’ by supporting the school in its decision-making.
Nunney First School is one of 18 schools which are supported by The Partnership Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust of primary, first, and special schools across Bath and Somerset. Emily Massey, CEO of the Trust, said, “This successful OFSTED report is a testament to the dedication of Nunney’s staff, the Governing Body, and its supportive parent community. I’d particularly like to congratulate the Head, Caroline Ford, who had only been in post since the start of this academic year when the inspection took place.
“It is also wonderful to see that the inspectors have noted the positive impact of The Partnership Trust on Nunney and how its development programmes have supported staff in maintaining ‘the right skills and knowledge to teach effectively.”
