News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Following an inspection in April this year, Bathampton Pre-School Playgroup rated ‘Good’ across the three areas of inspection – quality of education, personal development and leadership and management, with an ‘Outstanding’ grade for the fourth area, ‘Behaviour & Attitudes’.

Inspectors highlighted the setting’s provision is good and the ‘Children settle exceptionally well and eagerly engage in the prepared activities’ and said ‘Children’s behaviour is exemplary and younger children learn from the older ones, who share without needing adult support. For example, older children wait on log seats for their turn on the swing and let others have a go when requested’.

The report also noted, ‘Children are very confident in this setting’ and ‘children are extremely motivated and eager to join in’..

The playgroup was praised for its care of children and for recognising the impact Covid-19 has had on some children’s development. ‘They (staff) provide focused support so that all children, including those with special education needs, make the best progress they can’.

It also commended the pre-schools’ partnerships with families and the community, mentioning that parents comment on ‘how well the staff know their children’.

“We are absolutely delighted with this super report,” said Playgroup Manager Lisa Nash. “We feel that it really reflects what a special place Playgroup is for local children and their families. It recognises the nurturing environment that we strive to create for our children to help them thrive at preschool.”

Created as a not-for-profit organisation and registered as a charity, the group has continued to serve the community to enhance the education and development of 2.5 to 4 year-olds for almost 60 years.
