News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Nature Tots, a new outdoor parent and toddler group, will be running free sessions throughout October and November in Sydney Gardens, Bath. The sessions are being organised specially for parents and carers who haven’t had the chance to take their toddlers to outdoor play before.

The group is organised by Sue Palmer, the Sydney Garden Park Ranger, and will be led by Rowan Wynne-Jones on behalf of Dig & Delve.

“Numerous studies have shown that the benefits of outdoor play include improvement in social skills, language and communication skills, concentration, physical stamina, immune system, sleep patterns, mental health and an appreciation of nature and the environment,” said Rowan

The group will run on a Mondays 10am-11:30am on the 7, 14 and 21 October, and the 4, 11, 18 and 25 November. There are a limited number of places available (up to 12 children) so booking is recommended. Families can book places online by visiting www.naturetotssydneygardens.eventbrite.co.uk or by emailing the Sydney Garden Community Ranger, Susan Palmer, at email hidden; JavaScript is required

“Hot drinks for parents, and snacks and drinks for children will be provided (free of charge), as well as a range of fun, nature-based activities,” explained Rowan. “We also have a few (brand-new) toddler-sized waterproofs, that will be available to borrow, if parents don’t own their own waterproofs, or would prefer to keep their children’s clothes free from mud.”
