News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

A new family business is launching in Bath, offering reusable bottles to local people and businesses, while also supporting two local charities.

Bullfrog Bottles was set up by Jon Brown, his wife Lisa and their four children, with the idea of starting a new family business that could also make a difference to the local community.

“For years I had worked as a self-employed bookmaker and Lisa as a self-employed hairdresser,” explains Jon. “Then during the recent COVID lockdown pandemic, we decided that we wanted to change direction and start a business that would suit the needs of all the family, allow us to make a difference to the Bath community and help address the use of plastic bottles and how they damage the planet.

“The idea behind Bullfrog is to create a reusable bottle at an affordable price, complete with our snazzy colour designs that were quite clearly chosen by our children. The bottles are of amazing quality, offering 12 hours hot and 24 hours cold for any occasion. What’s more, all of the packaging can be fully recycled.

“We also wanted to keep the design and development process totally within Bath using Philip Field, a local designer/photographer, our web designer Michael Palmer plus our incredible neighbour and mum Sam Hardyman.”

Jon added that £2 from the sale of every bottle will be donated to two local charities, Southside Project and Off The Record. “These charities do amazing work with individuals and families in the Bath and North East Somerset communities, and after speaking with both charities we knew that it was the perfect fit for Bullfrog,” explained Jon. “The work that they do it also very close to our hearts too; having been diagnosed with bipolar and PTSD, I have realised through many tough times over the years how important all these charities, offering support for so many families and offering a real lifeline for those in need.

“After losing my father last year, I also realised how important it is to chat about how your feeling, and that’s where charities like Southside Project and Off The Record are so important to many people.”
