News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Bullfrog Yoga Kids is offering free yoga classes to schools across the Bath & North East Somerset region. Jon Brown, the owner of Bath-based Bullfrog Yoga Kids, explained that the initiative is being launched to make yoga accessible to all children, while also helping to improve their mental health and wellbeing

“It’s so important to connect and listen to children, to ensure that we can really understand their needs and help them to communicate both with teachers and carers, but also with each other,” said Jon.

“The project will offer all schools free yoga classes, as well as fitness and movement classes run by local professional yoga and PT instructors. The central ethos of the classes is to make the activity fun, inclusive for all and to help children be able to express who you are in a fun enjoyable environment.

“Crucially, the classes will be supplied at no cost to the school. All of the costs will be covered by Bullfrog Yoga and its supporters. In addition, we will be supplying all the mats and props for each school completely free, as well as a little gift for each child too.

“Local businesses are welcome to take part so that eventually we can roll the project out both across the Bath region and beyond.”

St Stephens Primary School in Bath is the first school to take part in the project, with Bullfrog Yoga offering four 25 minute classes per week per school. “The classes are designed for six children at a time, with the children chosen by the school,” explained Jon.

Any schools which would like to take part in the project are invited to email Jonathan at  email hidden; JavaScript is required. “Similarly, any schools who would like to take part and local businesses who can support the project are always welcome to call into the Bullfrog Shop on Kingsmead Square to talk to me,” said Jon.
