The children at the nursery section of St Saviour’s Schools in Bath have been enjoying regular messy and water play – and it’s all helping with their development in the process.
Play opportunities are the cornerstone of day-to-day life in the nursery class, with the children enjoying digging in the mud, exploring the sand pit and building dens using loose parts, all with bucketloads of fun and giggles along the way.
“Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, physical, cognitive, and emotional strength,” explains Lara White, the newly appointed Nursery Manager. “Play is important to healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them. We create an environment where children can do this when laughing, giggling and having fun.”
Children at the nursery are also have access to the playgrounds and nature areas of St Saviour’s Infant School, alongside special resources to encourage the very best play opportunities for the children.
