Abbot Alphege Academy in Bath has received a donation for £690 from The Hare & Hounds to provide the pupils with easy access to their forest school, so it can be used more often and provide a valuable outdoor learning space.
The money was raised through the pub donating 50p from the sale of every children’s meal to charity. The pub then picked their charity of choice, resulting in the generous donation to Abbot Alphege.
A cheque for the donation was presented by Joe Cussens, The Bath Pub Company Managing Director, to head teacher Vicky Dupras and some of the pupils. “It’s fantastic for us to be able to do support our local primary school, said Joe. “We’d like to thank all the customers that helped us raise the money for the donation. We believe that a good pub should be more about serving great food and drink – it should also be about supporting the local community, just as our customers support us.”
Headteacher Vicky Dupras added, “Thank you so much to the Hare and Hounds for a generous donation of £690. Donations like these really make a huge difference to the school, without it, we wouldn’t have been able to enhance the forest school for the pupils to enjoy.
“We have decided to use this funding to further support the development of our Forest School Provision here at school. Learning outside in the natural environment is so important for our children, and this additional money will really help us with this– as a small school with a small budget, this donation makes a massive difference to us.”
