News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Bath Preservation Trust is set to offer substantial savings for visitors to No.1 Royal Crescent and the Herschel Museum of Astronomy this year with an innovative annual pass scheme.

Beginning on Wednesday 1 February 2023, at the two popular visitor attractions the current ticketing structure will move to an annual pass system. Day tickets and on/off peak prices will be scrapped in favour of offering individuals and families a pass valid for a whole year, with children able to enjoy FREE entry, with an accompanying adult.

Priced at just £15 for an individual adult at No.1 Royal Crescent and £12 at the Herschel Museum, or £22 for a combined museums pass, with under-18s going free at both venues, the new annual pass offers holders unlimited visits.

“We feel it is hugely important to make visiting our museums as affordable as possible in these challenging times,” explains Claire Dixon, Director of Museums for Bath Preservation Trust. “The new annual pass scheme will help culture lovers to carry on accessing these fascinating and historic locations, safe in the knowledge that they’re saving money every time they visit, especially as kids go free.

“To put it into context, if someone loves No.1 and comes three times throughout 2023, the cost works out at £5 per visit. Whereas under the current ticketing system, they’d be paying £13 each time, so you can see the savings are really significant.

“Local residents can also maximise the value of an annual pass, rather than paying discounted entry with every visit.

“Our tour content at No.1 Royal Crescent changes seasonally, and the Herschel Museum holds several widely publicised astronomy-themed events per year, so we do find that both museums attract many return visitors. We hope that this new annual pass will save these return visitors money, encourage more family visitors and mean that everyone feels encouraged to visit us even more often.”

The annual pass scheme comes into effect from 1 February, when No.1 Royal Crescent and the Herschel Museum of Astronomy reopen for the 2023 season. A combined museum annual pass is available for both museums, priced at £22 per adult, with under 18s admitted free with an accompanying adult.
