Wera Hobhouse, MP for Bath, recently welcomed pupils from Prior Park College to Parliament for a Q&A session.
The visit provided the students with an opportunity to meet their community representative in person, and an insight into the workings of parliament.
The group of students were given a tour of the Palace of Westminster, including the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Following the tour, the students met with Wera Hobhouse, MP for Bath. The discussion covered a range of topics, including how Wera got into politics, what it was like to serve as an MP and youth engagement in politics. The students were particularly interested in Wera’s day-to-day responsibilities as a Member of Parliament.
Bath’s MP regularly meets with students and youth groups in her constituency and in Parliament to hear their views and answer their questions, as she is strongly committed to encouraging youth democratic participation.
Wera Hobhouse, MP for Bath, commented, “It was a pleasure to meet with the students from Prior Park College and discuss the issues that matter to them. Engaging young people in politics is essential to ensuring that their voices are heard and that they have a say in the future of our city.
“I hope that this visit has inspired the students to get involved in politics and to continue making a positive difference in our community.”
