The Paragon School has been fundraising this year for Bath’s Genesis Trust, a charity which supports homeless and vulnerable people in the local area.

Working closely with the charity’s brilliant Bath Foodbank team, the school PTA organised a group of volunteer families to visit local supermarkets, filling enough trolleys with much needed long-life food items to fill a minibus! These were then taken to the Oldfield Park warehouse where the school’s Heads of Houses were given a tour and shown how the food is sorted and distributed to local centres for collection on a weekly basis.

In March, members of The Paragon’s parent and teacher fundraising team then braved the bitterly cold winter wind and aced the challenge of abseiling down Bath Abbey as part of Genesis Trust’s Leap of Faith! 2023 initiative. It was a terrifying experience by all accounts, but the huge crowd of Paragon and family supporters waved encouragement from the pavement below, and they all made it down safely, raising over £2,200 for the charity.

Rosie Allen, Head of The Paragon was on the abseil team and said, “What an amazing experience for a truly brilliant organisation. We felt so proud to be representing the Paragon community to raise funds to help homeless and vulnerable people living in the city.”

Hilary Long, Community and Events Manager for Genesis Trust, added, “Thank you also for the amazing fundraising that you have done. Please pass on my thanks to your friends, family, and supporters for helping to make the Leap of Faith! 2023 a day to remember.”
