News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Have you ever wanted a birthday party with a difference that your children will love and remember for years? Bunny & Blooms might just have the perfect answer.

Bunny & Blooms is a small, family business that offers fun and interactive pet parties for children and young people in the Bath and surrounding areas. The parties allow children the opportunity to have hands-on experience of cuddly and cute animals, as well as learning about unique and fascinating pets too.

Bunny & Blooms is the idea of mum of three and trainee forest school teacher, Dannii Gray. “For years I had always dreamed of starting my own business, and I have always loved animals; growing up in the Cotswolds I was surrounded by animals and nature,” she explained.

“From a young age we had a wide range of random and wonderful pets. So when the idea came to me to combine the two, it seemed like something I just had to do.”

Bunny & Bloom sees Dannii and her team bring their pets – which include rabbits, guinea pigs, a budgie, a bearded dragon, a leopard gecko and stick insects – to the party house, and set up indoor pet runs so that the children can easily see and interact with them.

Each child will have the opportunity to hold, cuddle, groom and feed the rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as handling Sunny the bearded dragon and Leo the leopard gecko. “We enjoy ending the pet part of the party with a flight from our budgie, Bertie who loves to fly around looking for a head or shoulder to settle on,” said Dannii.

“The real joy of the parties comes from seeing the children grow in their confidence around animals and also receive the therapeutic benefits of engaging with them. It’s wonderful to see how the children respond to the animals, often conquering their own fears in the process.”

Bunny & Bloom parties are available for children of any age across Bath and the surrounding area. “Our main pet party package offers meeting the pets for 90 minutes, which costs £100,” said Dannii. “We also offer an extra seed planting activity which teaches children about the life cycle of a seed and showing them how to plant a seed, which they can take home with them to watch grow on their windowsills.

Looking ahead, Dannii is planning to offer holiday clubs for children where they can spend days learning about animal care, experiencing what it takes to look after each pet, as well as taking part in gardening and growing vegetables. “We’ll also be offering forest school experience, offering unstructured, imaginative free play, crafting and enjoy roasting marshmallows on an open fire. These will start in 2024.”
