The Power Of Play Nursery (formally Midford Road Nursery) has opened its doors to families from across the region, offering spaces for 34 children each day.
The newly expanded layout has allowed the nursery to add a new bright and calm base for the babies and younger toddlers, containing a range of areas and resources for children to explore, including a cosy sleep room. There is also a little garden so children can spend time outside throughout the day.
The rest of the building provides space for our older toddlers and pre-schoolers. The two rooms allow each age group to come together for registration, mealtimes and focused activities, while most of their day is spent in mixed, free-flow play. There are a range of areas and resources for the children to explore, with an emphasis on open-ended and authentic resources.
There are also double doors which lead out to a garden complete with a sandpit, mud kitchen and resources for large-scale construction and physical play. These doors are open all day to allow the children free-flow access.
The children also enjoy regular trips out to explore their allotment, Bath City Farm, the theatre, local woodlands, duck ponds, parks and local shops.
“We are beyond excited to have opened The Power Of Play – this site has always held a special place in the company’s heart as this was the original setting!” said Sally Sutton, Nursery Manager. “We have worked so hard to create a warm and inviting space where children have the freedom to be active learners. It has been a joy welcoming families back through these doors, we can’t wait to see what the next 12 months brings!”
“The environment has been designed to feel homely and is filled with oodles of professional love, a space where children can feel empowered to investigate and learn,” added Amy Parfitt, the founder of The Power Of Play. “All of our meals are prepared by our wonderful catering team at our Neston Farm Nursery, using locally sourced and organic produce to create our yummy menus.
“We feel passionately about a child led approach to the early years curriculum as we know how important the first five years of a child’s life is to ensure the foundation for lifelong learners!”
