News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Royal High School Bath Year 5 and 6 prep pupils have had an absolute blast working on their show, Seussical, a fantastical musical extravaganza in which Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and favourite Dr Seuss characters spring to life onstage!

Due to the widespread talents of the girls, the show was double cast, with the girls sharing the lead roles over four performances, but also supporting in the ensemble when not performing their main role. This allowed for wonderful collaboration and for the girls to work with their ‘opposite’ in a kind, supportive environment.

The production was a whole school effort, with staff designing and creating the wonderful set and fabulous costumes, girls working in ‘Props and Scenery Club’ with their teachers, backstage help and even one of the girls leading on the technical side of the production. The school was also very grateful for the support from Prep School parents.

The show is directed and musically directed by Head of Performing Arts, Mrs Millard, with choreography by Mrs Bazley.

Mrs Millard said, “Both pupils and staff alike thoroughly enjoyed our experience of Seussical, both the rehearsals as well as the performances themselves. It has been an amazing learning opportunity for our pupils, developing their stage presence, voice control, teamwork and self-confidence. It all came together beautifully for the performances. We are so proud of all the girls.”
