News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Pupils from St Michael’s Junior Church School in Bath have been benefitting from a close link with RedSTART, a financial education charity. RedSTART partners with schools across the country to improve children’s understanding of money and equip them with the skills they will need to manage their own money in the future.

Y6 students from St Michael’s were invited to a special morning at Altus Consulting, where they learned about earning and saving money, risk and reward, and compound interest, through the use of fun and interactive games. Their goal was to grow their money… including some risky opportunities from Rich Ricky that were too good to be true!

“The workshops were such a fantastic experience and so meaningful for our Y6s,” said Rebecca Mellor, Head of School. “It was great to hear so many children talking about their financial future, and experiencing the highs and lows of investment and savings.

“The Y6s returned to school so much more confident in their knowledge of making money work for them, which will be hugely beneficial as they approach their teenage years and beyond.”
