Olive Delamata, a Year 10 pupil at Ralph Allen School in Bath, has won an award for ‘Outstanding Creative Response’ at The Tender Awards in London. Olive (pictured above, centre) was awarded the honour for her poster titled Ducks that displays examples of scenarios within relationships – showing how one should and shouldn’t be treated.

The Tender Awards took place at a star-studded event at London’s Unicorn Theatre, with Olive’s award being being presented by British actress and writer, Priyanda Burford. Tender began its projects within education back in 2003, with the awards marking 20 years of supporting young people regarding healthy relationships, health and sex education.

The ceremony was attended by familiar faces such as Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman and comedian Aisling Bea, who are celebrity ambassadors for the arts charity. Also present at the event were Jess Phillips, Labour MP and Shadow Minister for Domestic Violence and Safeguarding, and Sophie Linden, the Deputy Mayor of London for Policing and Crime.

Eleven awards were given out on the night, highlighting achievements in fundraising, individual recognition for teachers and youth workers, and honouring the outstanding schools collectively.

Ralph Allen’s Head of Philosophy & Ethics, Joel Mellor, spoke buoyantly about Olive’s award. “Olive thoroughly deserves her award. We are proud of her efforts as a school and as a trust. Her poster was really accessible and highlighted perfectly things that you need to look out for to stay safe and happy.”

Ducks will be showcased to secondary schools by Tender and presented as an example of outstanding work done by students in collaboration with their workshops.
