News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The Board of Governors at Saint Gregory’s, Bath are delighted to welcome Mrs Melissa George to the role of Headteacher from September 2023. She will succeed Ms Ann Cusack following her decision to retire after six successful years as Head.

Having graduated with a First Class Honours degree from the University of Manchester, Mrs George taught in Mexico before returning to the UK to teach English and Drama at schools across London, both in the state and private sector. Mrs George will be joining the school from St Augustine’s Priory in Ealing, an independent Catholic school where she has been Deputy Headteacher and a key member of the Senior Leadership Team since 2019.

“I am thrilled to be joining Saint Gregory’s in September and to be continuing the excellent work of Ms Cusack in this next exciting chapter in the school’s future. With only four headteachers to its history, it is an honour and a privilege to lead the school into the next stage of its development.

“Saint Gregory’s is an incredibly special community and upholding its ethos and spirit of family will be central to my role. Everyone talks about the school being like a ‘family,’ and it truly is. The atmosphere is calm, purposeful, industrious and creative, making it a nurturing environment for both students and staff. I look forward to immersing myself in school life and building relationships with staff, parents and students alike.”

Saint Gregory’s prides itself on offering outstanding pastoral care, ensuring that each young person is supported to be their best and truest self. With Mrs George’s leadership and dedication, the school is poised to continue providing an environment where students can flourish academically, personally and spiritually.

The entire Saint Gregory’s community warmly welcomes Mrs George as the new Headteacher and looks forward to embarking on this exciting journey of growth and achievement together.
