News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein in Bath is running two spine chilling events for the strong willed to enjoy over Halloween and beyond.

The Shallows, the new basement Escape Room is now open! The Shallows is the second, and even more extreme, immersive Escape Room experience that follows the ongoing success of Victor’s Lair attic Escape Room, both of which have been designed exclusively by the multi award-winning Bath attraction dedicated to Mary Shelley and her legendary gothic tale, Frankenstein.

What’s in store deep in The Shallows?

Rumours of a hideous conspiracy linked to unethical research, deep within the dank basement shallows of 37 Gay Street, are proving reliably credible. You’ve gained unauthorised access to The Shallows only to discover the rumours are a great deal worse than ever imagined. Who is the shadowy world order, what is their ultimate goal? Time is running out for you to uncover the truth, save yourself and possibly humanity itself!

The Shallows is a one hour tense, psychological group challenge for up to four players which takes place underground in an enclosed darkened environment featuring confined spaces with audio and visual effects. All tickets include entry to Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein and prices from £27.50 per player.

After Dark – Nights To Die For

This Halloween, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein presents After Dark – nights to die for a series of immersive horror nights at Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein where visitors will be immersed in an intense, psychological multi-sensory horror house.

Set over five floors in a 300-year-old town house, the terrifying secret of 37 Gay Street is revealed… Will you go out… After Dark?

The event invites those who dare to:

  • Venture through rooms cloaked in darkness and be lured into twisted childhood games featuring live actors, special effects and disturbing aromas and soundscapes.
  • Brave the sinister underbelly of the House in the X-treme basement walkthrough experience.
  • Decipher the ramblings of a deranged mind within Victor’s attic Escape Room and find your way to safety.
  • Steady your nerves in the atmospheric Bloody Mary’s Bar and sample the deadly Death Wish cocktail, a shockingly good Tequila based Martini with a hot rim or other frightfully good drinks.

After Dark – nights to die for run from 20th – 31st October with tickets from just £15.  Please note the event is specifically aimed at anyone 15 years or above. Adults must accompany anyone who is 15 years. This event is not suitable for children.

Throughout October, Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein is still offering its classic experience and Escape Rooms every day, with extended opening hours during October half term.
