News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

A series of free courses are now available to support children, young people and their families reach and maintain a healthier lifestyle, as well as a healthy weight.

The service is provided by HCRG Care Group’s B&NES Wellbeing Service and run within the Community Wellbeing Hub. The courses provided by this service include Cook It!, Leap and HENRY (including Starting Solids and Fussy Eaters).

“These courses have been running for over five year and are open to all families living in or children who go to school in B&NES,” explained Zoe Self, a Health Improvement Practitioner. “The main focus of the courses it to improve confidence in families cooking healthy, low cost meals and learning about nutrition.

“Families will learn how to cook low cost, healthy, and easy recipes, including meals, lunches, snacks and puddings. Families will also learn the importance of fruit and veg, The Eatwell Guide, healthy snacking, portion sizes, food waste and meal planning. These topics include interactive games and activities for the children to practice their knowledge. Plus, it’s totally free!”
