News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Pupils from Year 5 and 6 from Walwayne Court Primary School recently enjoyed a trip to Trowbridge Museum and spent a fantastic morning discovering more about Ancient Greece.

The children took part in an archaeological dig, made clay pots and dressed up as ancient Greeks. They particularly enjoyed re-enacting the battle between the Ancient Greeks and Persians.

“This experience allowed the children to gain a greater understanding of Ancient Greece by immersing them in a variety of experiences,” said class teacher Miss Dally

‘It was a pleasure to welcome the pupils of Walwayne Court School who visited us over three days to study the Vikings and their connection to Wiltshire,” said David Birks from Trowbridge Museum. “Lots of hands-on activities  were on offer to really bring the topic to life and it was brilliant to see the pupils engage so enthusiastically. The ‘shield wall’ invasion technique went down particularly well, in a mockup of the battle of Edington!”

Trowbridge Museum offers tailor-made session to support a child or pupil’s learning across a wide range of historical topics.
