Bath Riverside Baby Massage is offering a series of four week courses where new parents can learn about the benefits of baby massage in a beautiful setting.
Bath Riverside Baby Massage has been set up by Helen Manister who became interested in massage and the power of essential oils particularly their impact on emotional well-being and went on to study them in more depth gaining her Diploma in Aromatherapy and Massage during 2009
She later went on to train as an Infant Massage Instructor, having massaged her own babies from birth. “This experience has inspired me to share this wonderful knowledge with other parents and witness the amazing emotional and physical benefits it brings,” she explained.
“The practice of infant massage is not a new phenomenon,” Helen explained. “In many cultures, there is evidence that the traditional practice of massaging babies has been passed down from generation to generation for over 3,000 years.”
Helen explained that massaging your baby has so many benefits, as well as providing a wonderful way to bond with your baby and enjoy the closeness and contentment it brings. These benefits include –
- Baby massage can increase your confidence, and can help your baby feel protected and loved
- It soothes and relaxes your baby, encourages feelings of tranquillity and can improve sleep
- It stimulates the release of the body’s natural endorphins inducing feelings of pleasure and wellbeing
- It promotes the flow of lymphatic fluid improving the body’s resistance to infection
- It releases the build-up of trapped wind improving digestion problems and colic
- For mothers with post-natal depression, it can help lift symptoms, increase confidence and enhance bonding.
Helen suggests that the best time to attend a baby massage course is when a baby is eight weeks old and after a new mum and the baby have had their post-natal medical check-up.
Helen’s courses take place in at CLASS, Bath Riverside, and run for four weeks each Wednesday morning starting at 11:00 am.
“During the four week course, I will demonstrate an effective full-body massage routine which mums will learn and practice on their baby, so that by the end of the four weeks they will be able to complete this on their own at home confidently and securely. We will listen to your baby’s cues and let them determine the pace, there is no rush! babies can be unpredictable so together we will create a wonderful relaxing, comfortable, safe space for everyone.”
