St Gregory’s Year 7 student, Catherine C, has wowed fashion-industry judges to win the Bath Fashion Museum’s Fashion and Fairytale competition for Key Stage 3.
Catherine’s winning design was inspired by the concept of sustainable fashion, using materials that were eco-friendly but still stylish. Her work was considered strong in sustainability, determination, imagination and craftsmanship, with judges highlighting her design for its versatility and wearability.
Katy Hancock, Marketing & PR Manager at Fashion and Fairytale, congratulated Catherine, saying, “We have been stunned by the 300 designs we received from young people across Bath & North East Somerset and are delighted that our not-for-profit project has inspired students to put sustainability at the heart of their creativity; who knows with the passion demonstrated by B&NES students, perhaps one day fast fashion will be a thing of the past!”
Catherine’s design will now be made into a life-size dress and placed on display at the Octagon Salon of the Assembly Rooms from 3-5 August. Just before school closed, Catherine was presented with the wonderful news and her prize of a sewing machine, kindly donated by The Sewing Studio, Bath
