Stonar School is today celebrating an outstanding set of A Level results for its pupils, with 70% of pupils being awarded A*-B grades and 46% of pupils A*-A grades.
Matthew Way, Headmaster, commented, ”I am delighted by these hugely impressive A Level results and it is very gratifying to see this group of pupils deservedly achieving such excellent results, reflecting their hard work and the truly exceptional standard of teaching from our dedicated staff.
“As a non-selective school, these results show the added value of Stonar. Our leavers will take up their places at a range of prestigious universities and it says much for Stonar’s commitment to working with each pupil as an individual that all of our pupils achieved places at their first choice universities.
“I am very proud of our pupils, who are so impressive on paper and in person, and I am grateful to our Head of Sixth Form and Sixth Form tutors for their dedication and commitment. A Stonar education is about much more than examination results, but it is deeply gratifying when pupils who have contributed so strongly across a host of areas of school life also achieve such impressive results.”
There were many exceptional individual performances in this year’s results. Ysobel, who joined Stonar at the age of three, achieved an A* in drama and A grades in English and History, and will go on to read history at the University of Exeter. Hannah achieved an A* in biology, as well as A’s in both chemistry and physics, and will read biochemistry at Manchester. Head Girl, Sam, was awarded 2A*s, an A and a C and will read International Relations at Leeds.
Ysobel’s parents commented to the school, “What a great outcome for Ysobel today with her excellent A Level results and her confirmed place at Exeter University! But it’s not just about this, it’s also about what a kind, considerate, well-rounded young women she has become, all thanks to the support of the staff at Stonar! Since Reception, everyone at the school has worked tirelessly to do the best for Ysobel. You should all be very proud of what you have achieved and shouting from the rooftops about the quality of education you provide. We will be!”
