News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Families are being offered a unique opportunity to cycle The Tour Series circuit on traffic-free roads in Bath city centre on Saturday 20 May.

Later that day Bath will host the first ever Saturday night stage of The Tour Series and The Matrix Fitness Women’s Grand Prix, with a brand new city centre circuit, starting and finishing on Great Pulteney Street.

The two Tour Series Family Ride Sessions will take place on the traffic-free race circuit at 12.45pm and 1.45pm, taking in Terrace Walk, Orange Grove, High Street, Pulteney Bridge and Great Pulteney Street. There will be no competitive races – it’s simply a great opportunity to cycle around the city centre when the streets are closed. All ages can get involved and families can even bring scooters or buggies.

Any interested families will need to register in advance with EventBrite – visit www.eventbrite.co.uk and search Tour Series, Bath, to take part in the sessions. Check-in is at Henrietta Park, Henrietta Road, from 11am on the day. All cyclists will need to wear helmets.

Organisers are also looking for 11 Tour Series mascots aged 7-11 years old – one for each of the men’s professional teams. The mascots will be needed at 5pm for team photographs and again at the end of the race, approximately 7.30pm.

Once registered on EventBrite, parents and carers will be able to enter their child into a prize draw; please email your registration confirmation to email hidden; JavaScript is required before close of play on Monday 15 May. The winners will be drawn on the morning of Tuesday 16 May.

Olympic gold medallist Dani King is the Ambassador for the Bath round of The Tour Series, including The Family Rides and the Love2Cycle Sportive. She said: “In my role as Ambassador, I want to encourage as many people as possible to get involved when the Tour Series comes to Bath. The Family Rides are a fantastic opportunity to ride through Bath city centre, on the Tour circuit, traffic-free on Saturday 20 May, which promises to be a great celebration of cycling.”
