News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Otis this Ostrich is normally on duty encouraging children to be On Time In School at Roundhill Primary, but on 15 March he will be seen limbering up for the Bath Half.

Head Teacher, Sue Adams, and her staff are training hard for the Half Marathon, hoping to raise £1,000 for school playground equipment. Many of the team are first time runners, some had only run 5km before when they signed up. Their training has been driven by their grit and determination to improve their school.

Site Manager and Running Trainer, Chris Bond, is confident that the hard work the team have put in over the winter will see them successfully complete 21km.

And if they Roundhill hit the fundraising target, Chris has promised to put Otis the Ostrich through his paces on the big day!

Chris said, “I might be sticking my neck out here, but I think we’ll hit that £1,000 target and get Otis in the team!”

Sue Adams added, “It’s a massive challenge for us as first time runners, but with such a strong team spirit and with the fantastic support we’re getting from children and parents, I’m really looking forward to it!”
