News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Happy Days Nursery in Bath, situated at the centre of the new Mulberry Park Development, is celebrating having recently received a GOOD grading from Ofsted.

Opened in September 2018, the nursery has only recently received its first inspection from Ofsted as a result of the postponement of inspections due to COVID. Since inspections began again in May, the nursery team couldn’t wait to showcase their nursery to the Ofsted inspectors.

The report highlights the lovely relationships between the children and staff. Children quickly settle to the exciting activities and enjoy their learning. Staff are gentle and responsive to babies’ needs. Babies gently fall asleep in their key person’s arms, showing how secure they feel.

Sam, Field Manager for Bath, said, “I am extremely proud of the staff team who have been dedicated from when the nursery first opened and throughout the pandemic to provide exceptional care and education for children and families within the local community.’’

The inspector’s recognised children at the nursery are imaginative and creative, including through the creation of a swamp and pterodactyls in their jungle, adding herbs which stimulate their senses and prompts further discussion. They make potions and talk about magically changing a toy lion into a butterfly. Staff provide good support for children’s communication and language skills, including using signs with words, narrating children’s play and giving them enough time to think and respond to questions. This allows young children join in with actions to songs and words they know, while older children use books to extend their vocabulary, such as understanding what a stethoscope is.

Helen Atkin, Operations Manager, added, “Sam leads by example and inspires the team to nurture and support the children, allowing them to have fun, learn and shine in a safe and secure environment. We will continue to develop our provision and are looking forward to launching our new curriculum in September – striving to achieve an Outstanding Ofsted grade at our next inspection!”

The nursery has a limited number of places available and parents are encouraged to contact the nursery as soon as possible to secure their place. Contact Sam on 01225 690 133 or email email hidden; JavaScript is required
