News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Baskervilles School of Gymnastics held its annual Club Competition over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd April. This highly anticipated weekend was back with a bang, having not run due to the pandemic since 2020. Nearly 700 gymnasts took part, making it the biggest event to date in Baskervilles’ history.

Held at Baskervilles’ hub centre on Englishcombe Lane, Bath, gymnasts from across the club’s five centres came together to compete. Competitors performed a floor routine and two vaults in front of the judges and a large audience of spectators.

The 700 gymnasts were split across seven competitions into 50 colour coded categories according to age and experience. Every gymnast received a participation medal for performing on the day, with additional ribbons and medals awarded to the top finishers on floor and vault, as well as the overall combined positions.

The club held a raffle raising a huge £2,536.40. All the money has been donated towards a cause very close to the heart of the Baskervilles’ community. The clubs 12 year-old Junior Coach, Nancy Jubb, recently suffered a spinal stroke causing her to be paralysed from the waist down. The fundraising will go towards Nancy’s future care and rehabilitation. The Baskervilles’ team, as well as Nancy’s family, would like to thank all who contributed.

“This year’s Club Competition was a triumph!” said competition organiser, Vicky Baskerville. “I am so proud of the Baskervilles’ team and every gymnast that took part. It is fantastic to be able to host these events again.”
